Keeping Your Car Clean

I still remember the day that I bought my first car. I thought it was the most perfect vehicle in the world, and I vowed to care for it diligently. Unfortunately, within a few days I had forgotten about my promise, and I started tossing fast food wrappers in the back like everyone else. After awhile I realized that neglecting my car was turning the inside into a garbage pit, and I decided to learn how to take better care of my vehicle. I took a class on auto detailing, and it really helped me to turn things around. I want to teach you what I learned, so you should read this blog.

Renting A Car When Yours Is In The Shop For Repair

Blog

If your car breaks down and requires repairs, a car rental could be an excellent way to ensure you have transportation during that time. Many insurance companies offer coverage for car rentals in the event of a breakdown or accident, and some repair shops that sell cars may have rentals available that you can use for a small fee.

Major Repairs

When your car needs a repair that will take some time, it can be challenging to get around while the shop makes those repairs. Something significant like collision damage or an engine replacement could mean the car is in the shop for several weeks, and a car rental may be the best way to ensure you have a vehicle during that time.

Check with your insurance company to see if you have coverage for a car rental after an accident or while the car is in the shop because many comprehensive insurance policies include the benefit for several days or more. In some situations, the rental will have a time limit, but if the coverage provides a vehicle for most of the time your car is down, it can be beneficial and help reduce the cost of getting around while you are waiting for your car repairs.

Repair Shop Rental Cars

Some large repair centers have rental cars available that they can set up for you. These cars may be available to the client at a lower daily cost than the average car rental agency offers, and the insurance coverage may be limited to a specific dollar figure which can mean more time with the rental while repairs are underway.

If the repair shop does not offer rentals, you may need to get a car through a local car rental company, and sometimes that will require paying for it out of pocket. The rental cost may be lower over a longer rental term, so try and get an estimate for the repair time from the shop so you can get an accurate estimate for the rental cost.

If you have car rental coverage as part of your insurance policy, you can often turn the receipts in after the rental to get reimbursed for the cost.  There are also some large rental services that will work directly with the insurance company to coordinate the rental, so you don't have to spend your own money upfront and wait to get paid. Check with the car rental company in your area to see if they can coordinate the rental with your insurance, or call your insurance agent to discuss how to get the rental cost covered while your car is out of service.
